Monika currently lives and works in Marseille, France, and is currently facing the same isolation endured worldwide. Her recent statement based project explores the impact of geographical borders on cultures and identities, posing a number of questions in the process: What is a border? How do borders affect identities ? Borders divide countries, but do they foster their own unique cultures ?
Some traditions persist in spite of borders, are they transformed by borders or are new traditions created by borders? Borders are the source of conflicts but do they also encourage cooperation between humans? Monika also explores the relationship between language, cultures and geographical tribalism.
