Sandrine Arons

I am French/American visual artist currently residing in Atlanta, Georgia. I moved back to the United States in 2009 from Paris, France where I was researching 20th century French writers for my dissertation on autobiography and personal writing.

I have always had a deep interest in all types of personal expression as a way of self-reflection. Before my dissertation, I wrote a thesis on journal writing and self-growth for a Master’s degree in Humanistic Psychology and I have most recently completed my MFA in Photography from the Savannah College of Art and Design where my thesis work focused on my personal experience of being multicultural and the visual representation of that inner landscape.

My focus in all disciplines has been on identity, self-knowledge and self-understanding with a particular interest on identity fragmentation as regards gender and multiculturalism and how these issues are manifested and confronted in autobiography. The photographs from my different series’ are personal explorations of my experiences of multiculturalism, motherhood and womanhood.
