Erik Cocks

In a span of over 30 years, Erik has photographed presidents, punk bands, movie stars, and supermodels for artistic projects and installations.

Erik’s got a passion for incorporating people in his images, honoring the human form but attempting to pull what’s behind the curtain to the surface in his images. Also, his specialty of dramatic environmental portraits of people often presents more questions than answers. His works deconstruct reality to confront emotions as aesthetically resilient, thematically interrelated material for memory and projection of self. The raw emotional intensity and gentle strength of his photos frequently contrast with the carefully calculated and composed images he delivers.

Erik cut his teeth on real film, developing an appreciation for all things analog, even after combining digital platforms. Erik continues to marry film and digital imagery for projects.

Erik continues to explore concepts of storytelling in imagery and connecting with his audience to drive emotions and pose questions about our lives.
